Pet Sitting Service Policies
Please read the following policies carefully and fully understand R&C Pet Sitting policies.
Rules and Regulations for Service by R&C Pet Sitting
1. Pets 16 weeks and older must have current vaccinations for the rabies virus. Maryland law requires that all dogs (16 weeks and older) must be vaccinated for rabies. For your pet’s safety and your pet sitter’s safety, all pets that we care for are required to be vaccinated for the rabies virus. We will not provide care to dogs and cats that are not current on their rabies vaccinations.
2. Adult dogs must also be current on all other vaccinations. Your dog must be current on the vaccinations for infectious canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis, canine parainfluenza, canine parvovirus, leptospirosis, and kennel cough. The only exception to a skipped vaccination is if your dog is allergic to a vaccination.
3. Cats must have the FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, feline calicivirus and feline panleukopenia) vaccination, FeLV (feline leukemia virus) and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) vaccinations. The only exceptions are if your pet is allergic to a vaccination or is a ferial cat that pet sitters will not have direct contact with.
4. Parents must notify their pet sitter if their pet is ill, under veterinary care, about to have surgery, has had surgery, vomiting, diarrhea, acting oddly, or has other medical concerns.
5. Pets that are not healthy, are acting strange, vomiting, etc. are required to be vet checked before R&C Pet Sitting will provide dog walking service.
6. Dogs that are enrolled in our dog walking service must be healthy enough for the walk deration chosen. Your pet sitter may advise a shorter walk duration or our let-out service instead to ensure your dog’s comfort.
7. If your pet has been diagnosed with an infectious disease (other pets can become infected if in contact) or a zoonotic disease (diseases that can be transferred from pets to humans) you must contact your pet sitter immediately. To protect all the pets we care for and our pet sitters, your pet’s service will be disrupted until your pet’s condition is cleared by your veterinarian.
Animal Attack Disclaimer
An owner must inform R&C Pet Sitting if their pet(s) has a history of biting/attacking humans or other animals before care will be given. R&C Pet Sitting has the right to refuse care to any pet(s) that has a history of biting/attacking humans or other animals or that has inflected injures to the pet sitters of R&C Pet Sitting.
If a pet under the care of R&C Pet Sitting injures a pet sitter then the safety of the pet sitter is of high concern. If the safety of the pet sitter is compromised then the pet sitter(s) will remove him/herself from the situation by distancing themselves from the pet(s) to seek medical attention. If a pet(s) injures a pet sitter during a walk and the pet sitter must release the animal’s leash to be able to distance themselves from the attacking animal then it is the responsibility of the pet’s owner to capture the animal and contact animal control.
R&C Pet Sitting and their employees are not responsible for pets that run away after biting/attacking a pet sitter. Rachelle Proulx of R&C Pet Sitting and employees of R&C Pet Sitting are not responsible for the care of pet(s) that bite/attack pet sitters or other persons.
If a pet(s) bites/attacks a pet sitter or another person then R&C Pet Sitting and their employees are no longer responsible for the biting/attacking pet(s.) Pets that run away after a bite/attack are no longer the responsibility of R&C Pet Sitting or their employees. R&C Pet Sitting will not be held liable for animals that obtain injuries or death after running away.
If a pet bites an employee of R&C Pet Sitting or another person who is not affiliated with R&C Pet Sitting while under the care of an employee of R&C Pet Sitting then the pet’s owner must contact animal control and report the bite within 24-hours of the attack.
If a pet bites an employee of R&C Pet Sitting or another person who is not affiliated with R&C Pet Sitting while under the care of an employee of R&C Pet Sitting then the pet’s owner is responsible to compensate the injured party for all medical bills that result from the injuries inflected by the owner’s pet(s.) R&C Pet Sitting is not responsible for any compensation for injuries or damages caused by an owner's pet. Pet Parents are responsible to compensate all injured parties for medical bills that accrue resulting from injuries sustained by their pet.
R&C Pet Sitting Service will not be responsible for the following:
1. Damage to carpets, rugs, floors, plants or lawns caused by clients’ pets urinating, spraying or defecting on same, every reasonable effort will be made to clean up messes caused by clients’ pets that are found by the pet sitter with cleaning materials made available by the client.
2. Sickness, injury, loss or death of clients’ pets through non-negligence of pet sitter. R&C Pet Sitting Service will follow the directions of the Veterinary Instruction and Release Form for pets that become sick or injured. The maximum monetary liability that R&C Pet Sitting Service will assume for the loss of a pet will be the replacement value of the pet only.
3. The condition or security of fences, doors, and gates for area is secure and safe for the pet. R&C Pet Sitting Service is not responsible for the condition of leashes or collars used in walking pets. Client should insure such equipment is in good working condition. R&C Pet Sitting Service will make every reasonable effort to locate a lost or missing pet.
4. Plants, trees and lawns that wilt, brown, or die due to conditions beyond the directions supplied by the client, or beyond the control of the pet sitter. Watering of plants will be accomplished only in the manner directed by client.
5. Property or goods that are damaged or taken from a client’s home during a robbery.
Payment Policies
Payments for weekly clients are due weekly. Payments are due either on the first day of the service week or on the last day of the service week.
Payments for vacation care/short term care are due prior to the start of the assignment- during meet & greet consult or prior to first visit.
Personal checks, cash, and money orders are the only forms of payment that are accepted at this time. Please make all checks payable to Rachelle Proulx or R&C Pet Sitting.
If payment is not received by the date of the last visit of the week, then you will be left a bill or will be sent a bill in the mail. Payments must be made within 7 days after the last date of the service week or a $5.00 per week late fee will accrue per week the payment is not made. All services will be discontinued until full payment is received. Legal action may be taken for accounts that remain delinquent for one month after service has been rendered. R&C Pet Sitting has the right to refuse service at any time for nonpayment of accounts.
Rachelle Proulx of R&C Pet Sitting has the right to refuse service to any client at any time due to non-payment or refusal to comply with these polices stated within this contract.

Unscheduled Sick Days
If you find yourself home on a scheduled day please call/text your pet sitter the morning of your pet’s scheduled visit. Morning scheduled visits please contact pet sitter between 6:00am-7:00am. Midday/Evening scheduled visits please contact pet sitter by 10:00am. You will not be charged for a day you are off if you call/text your pet sitter by the times stated. Your pet sitter will continue to visit your home for a scheduled day if she is not notified not to do so. You will be charged for days that your pet sitter was not notified prior to your scheduled visitation time.
Scheduled Days Off
Please contact your pet sitter when your pet does not need service on a scheduled day. Please notify your pet sitter at least one week prior to days when service will not be needed for holidays and vacations. If you need vacation pet sitting contact your pet sitter to schedule days and times.
Contract Termination
A client who wishes to end a service contract must give R&C Pet Sitting a written one-week notification of termination of this service contract. Rachelle Proulx of R&C Pet Sitting has the right to refuse service to any client for any reason at any time.
Pet Sitter Unavailability
If R&C Pet Sitting is unable to provide service on a scheduled day due to inclement weather, pet sitter illness/injury or emergency then R&C Pet Sitting will contact pet parents as soon as possible so alternate pet care arrangements can be made. If a pet sitter knows she is not going to be available on a scheduled day, then you will receive a written memo at least two weeks prior to the unavailable dates.
